Happy New Year everyone! 2013 has gone by way too quickly but now it's a new year, it's time to make some changes and improve myself. Just like I promise every year!
In 2013:
- I read 89 books
- I graduated from university with a 2:1
- I got my first job and lasted 6 weeks
- Went on holiday with my boyfriend
- Met/saw CJ Skuse, Rachel Ward, Holly Smale, Andy Robb and Rachel Caine
- Went to the Reading Agency's Roadshow in Cardiff, where I learned more about publishing and got a few contacts
In 2014, I want to do better, both personally and professionally, on my blog and health, my relationships, real and online, all that. So I have a few resolutions that shouldn't be too much hard work that I really want to complete and keep up with as the year goes on.
1 - Find a damn job! I managed to find one to keep me going for two months but it was only temporary so wish me luck I can find a permanent one.
2 - Balance reading and reviewing Self-explanatory really, I want to keep up with my reading and reviewing everything on time
3 - Really try to buy less books! Yeah, not sure how well this one will go, but if I amend it to 'rearrange my room to fit more books in' then I'm sure I'll manage!
4 - Read 100 books Never managed it before, Goodreads challenge is set to 90 so we'll see how it goes. But I really want to. I know it's stupid, but I feel bad because compared to some friends, I'm such a slow reader!
5 - Worry less I do this one every year, I'm not sure I'm getting better but I think I am getting there with managing it and not letting it rule my life. At the very least I'm talking things through with my family and my boyfriend instead of letting it stew in my head.
6 - Healthier lifestyle Eat better and walk everyday, especially since I seem to have put some weight on, putting me up a jeans size. Which, needless to say, is incredibly annoying! So walking more, exercising more, all that
8 - Spend more time with the people I love Not just sit next to my boyfriend while he plays on the computer, actually do something with him; meet up with old friends more often; participate in days out with the family; all the things that I used to take for granted, really enjoy them, plan them and actually do them!
How about you? Have any resolutions, blogging or otherwise, that you want to accomplish this year?
I also plan to read 100 books this year (God, help me!). Managed it once before - they year that encompassed the latter half of AS and the first half of A Levels, so how hard can it be?! (99p kindle books will be a big help in the financial department, but I am doing a PhD so seriously thinking 50 might be a more reasonable goal... Set the bar high though, right?). Happy New Year & good luck with all these! :) xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck with job hunting! Hopefully your xmas one will help :-) Happy new year!
